Appreciating Our Seniors

Formal with a running twist

A few weeks ago, we held our end-of-semester formal. The dress code for the event was running formal: all guests must wear their most formal attire, but substitute one item from their outfit for a piece of running gear. For most, this was simply swapping out loafers for trainers, but others went the extra mile by replacing suit pants with short shorts, or a collared shirt with a uniform top.

The event was a chance to celebrate a year of running, and to honor our seniors (above), who have been amazing runners, friends, and role models. From left to right in the picture:

One of our captains, Isaac Oda-Bayliss has had a big presence on the team and we’ll miss his infectious enthusiasm as he goes to Japan next year.

Joy Jiang has had a year of incredible PRs and has always supported the club as a captain and unofficial team mom.

Though he’s been across the pond this year, Alec Bania was one of the captains who helped grow the club to what it is now, and we’ve appreciated his visits and remote help.

Our social chair, Caroline Ribet, has planned us donut, waffle, and coffee fun runs, but regardless of the destination, running with her is always fun.

Luckily for us, Adam Janik will be with us for one more semester, so we don’t have to say goodbye to him yet!

Katie Chu has consistently been our top cross country runner, and we all admire her dedication to running and her teammates.

We’ll miss them a lot next year, and wish them luck in their future endeavors! We hope they keep running and that we’ll see them again soon!
