Thanks to the brave souls who gave the chug challenge mile a go. We had some fierce competition, and it was a ton of fun! We’ll definitely aim to do a similar event next term. This email has our schedule for the week (including a change in our meeting spot), a look ahead at the post cross country season focus for the competitive team, and sprint team info.
Week Ahead in Running Club
**Given that it’s starting to get pretty chilly, for the rest of the term, we’ll be meeting in the Nelson lobby before runs so people don’t have to wait around in the cold. Come early to stretch and put your stuff in the locker rooms (in the Nelson basement)**
Due to daylight savings ending, runs are going to get pretty dark for the rest of the term so make sure to wear bright/reflective clothing if possible!
Mon 11/20-Tues 11/21: Regular club runs at 4:15pm
Tues 11/21: Sprint team workout, meet 7:30pm in the OMAC lobby.
Wed-Sun 11/22-11/26: Thanksgiving break (No practice)
After the Thanksgiving break, we’ll resume competitive team workouts. We’ll also take one more trip out to Arcadia for a long run Sunday December 3rd.
Competitive Team Outlook
With nationals behind us, we’ll be taking a brief break from workouts to recover from the long season, but we’ll still have regularly scheduled training runs. We’ll start getting ready to race again after Thanksgiving break. We’ll have training sessions geared towards people interested in preparing for winter and spring road races (especially a half or full marathon) and for folks who want to get ready for indoor track in the winter and outdoor track in the spring.
For sprinters and jumpers and hurdlers (or those who just want to try out these events), we’ll be starting weekly organized training sessions under the guidance of our new sprints captain, Amy! These will be 7:30 pm, every Tuesday at the OMAC. Weekly workout plans for sprinters can also be found in our facebook group and website. Bring yourself and your sprint curious friends.
